Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee

As per the guidelines of UGC, NAAC and in the observance of the orders issued by Hon’ble Supreme Court, stating that sexual harassment is strictly prohibited in the educational institutions in any form, an anti-sexual harassment committee is constituted headed by the undersigned to check any act of sexual harassment among the students.

Student or their parents/guardian can contact personally or telephonically to report cases related with sexual harassment or any other problems the student faces in the campus to the following staff members.

The Internal Complaints Committee is responsible for investigating every formal written complaint of sexual harassment and taking appropriate remedial measures to respond to any substantiated allegations of sexual harassment.

Any act of sexual harassment or any other form of harassment must be immediately reported to the office of the undersigned so that strict action can be taken against students found involved in any kind of sexual harassment.

Annexure – Definition of Sexual Harassment

Definition of Sexual Harassment
a) Behaviours that may constitute harassment are:
b) Verbal or Physical threats.
c) Insulting, Abusive, Embarrassing or Patronizing behaviour or Comments.
d) Offensive gestures, Language, Rumours, Gossip or Jokes.
e) Humiliating, Intimidating, Demeaning and/or Persistent criticism, Open hostility.
f) Suggestive comments or body language.
g) Isolation or Exclusion from normal work or study place.
h) Physical confinement against one’s will and any other act likely to violate one’s privacy.
i) Publishing, Circulating or displaying pornographic, racist, sexually suggestive or otherwise offensive pictures or other materials.
j) Unwanted physical contact, ranging from an invasion of space to a serious assault.
k) Touching or brushing against any part of the body and the like.
l) Forcible physical touch or molestation.

The following is also sexual harassment:
a) Eve-teasing.
b) Unsavoury remarks.
c) Jokes causing or likely to cause awkwardness or embarrassment.
d) Innuendos and taunts.
e) Gender based insults or sexist remarks.
f) Unwelcome sexual overtone in any manner such as over telephone.
g) Singing obscene songs to the annoyance of others.
h) Uttering any word or making any gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman.
i) Sending undesirable sexually coloured written messages, text messages, e-mail messages, or any such messages by electronic or other means.
j) Stalking or consistently following others in the college campus and outside.
